FORTE CULTURA Station: Westwall Museum Bunker Emilie (DE)

Westwall camouflage bunker with history

The Emilie museum bunker is one of the few surviving buildings of the Westwall, which stretched from Kleve to Basel with its approx. 18,000 bunkers.

The bunker was named after Emilie H., who lived in the camouflage building above the bunker during the war and lived there until her death in the early 1980s.

Since 2009, Regelbau 11 has been home to a museum, which was initially financed from private funds. In 2017, the association "Museumsbunker Emile e.V." was founded, which is now responsible for the preservation of the bunker.

"Emilie" can be viewed on request.

The Westwall bunker is part of the Franco-German Regional Network Fortresses and Defence History on the Upper Rhine 1870-1999.
