FORTE CULTURA is the European Cultural Route of Fortified Monuments.

It connects fortresses, fortified towns, defence lines, bunkers, museums, cultural institutions and regions throughout Europe through a common narrative: the development of military architecture from the 15th to the 20th century - from bastions to bunkers.

The route is also accompanied by a transnational network of members and experts working together to protect, interpret and revitalise the fortified cultural heritage as a living cultural resource.

FORTE CULTURA promotes cultural tourism, education, research, mediation, creative reutilisation and European cooperation. The motto "Fortresses for Culture and Peace" stands for the transformation of former defence facilities into spaces for culture, learning, dialogue and sustainable development.
