FORTE CULTURA Station: Koblenz fortress system (DE)

Prussian large-scale festival system at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers

The gateway to the World Heritage Site with exciting culture, architecture, history and nature

In 1815, Koblenz was named the capital of the Prussian Rhine Province and King Friedrich Wilhelm III ordered the extensive expansion of the fortifications at the site. As a result, one of the largest fortification systems in Europe was built at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine, consisting of the town fortifications of Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein as well as five large systems with numerous forts, redoubts and fortifications.

Today, some of the imposing fortifications are still preserved and have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Upper Middle Rhine Valley" since 2002.

Visitors young and old are offered an exciting range of experiences and events within the historic walls. Discover Fort Konstantin and the Kaiser Franz Fortress with FORTE CULTURA. Take the cable car across the Rhine and conquer the famous Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.
