George Prosper de Verboom (1665 – 1744)

General Engineer of the Royal Spanish Army

In 1695 Verboom acted together with Menno van Coehorn in the reconquest of Namur, later he led the defence systems of Antwerp.

In 1709 he was appointed Engineer General of the Royal Spanish Army.

In 1710, he was captured during the Battle of Almenar and imprisoned until 1712.

In 1713, he played an active role in the conquest of Barcelona and lived there from 1718, overseeing the construction of the citadel, among other things. He also worked in Ceuta, Malaga, Seville and Gibraltar.
