One of the most important forts of the Maginot Line in Alsace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Four \u00e0 Chaux plant is one of the 108 forts of the Maginot Line, which stretch along the north-western border of France for 750 kilometres. Built between 1930 and 1935, it is one of the most important sites of the Maginot Line in Alsace and was intended to secure the valley of the S\u00fbre. The 26-hectare mountain fortress is located to the south of Lembach and extends over around 5 km of underground tunnels up to 30 metres below ground. The Four \u00e0 Chaux fortress was built with 6 combat blocks for around 580 soldiers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors can discover original items of equipment and receive information on how the Maginot Line worked and its significance during the Second World War. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
