{"id":1054,"date":"2023-12-01T17:24:24","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T16:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forte-cultura.com\/?p=1054"},"modified":"2024-06-29T11:12:11","modified_gmt":"2024-06-29T09:12:11","slug":"ziegenhain-en","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forte-cultura.com\/en\/ziegenhain-de\/","title":{"rendered":"Ziegenhain (DE)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide eplus-wrapper is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex eplus-styles-uid-204e24\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column eplus-wrapper is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:80%\"><p class=\"eplus-wrapper eplus-styles-uid-e7c803\"><em>FORTE CULTURA Station: Ziegenhain Water Fortress (DE)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide has-large-font-size eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Bulwark of the Protestants<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote eplus-wrapper is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\"><em>\"As festive as Ziegenhain\"<\/em><\/p>\n<cite>was once a saying that referred to the imposing former water fortress.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">Built from 1537 by Landgrave Philip the Magnanimous, it surrounded the town centre with a mighty circular wall and four roundels and became the central main fortress of the four Hessian state fortresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide eplus-wrapper\" style=\"font-size:clamp(1.092rem, 1.092rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 1.013), 1.7rem);\"><em>Where confirmation was once invented<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">In 1539, Hessian theologians and reformers came to the fortress of Ziegenhain at the invitation of Landgrave Philip the Magnanimous. There they issued the Ziegenhain Church Discipline Code, introducing confirmation, which had a significant influence on Protestantism and is still celebrated by Protestants around the world today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" class=\"eplus-wrapper\">The Ziegenhain fortress was razed in 1807 by order of Napoleon, leaving only the moat and the castle intact. The castle has been used as a prison since 1872. Visitors to the fortress can walk along the moat in Ziegenhain and take a look at the exhibits in the Museum der Schwalm, the former commandant's building.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column eplus-wrapper is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:20%\"><figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-medium is-resized has-custom-border
