Museums, galleries and exhibitions have a special effect in the rooms and catacombs of huge fortress monuments. They enjoy unbroken popularity with young and old alike and present a wide range of topics from almost all areas of life in a variety of ways.
Whether it's a local history museum, history of crafts, war weapons collection, art, nature, religion or themed travelling exhibitions, the content is extremely varied and often modern and interactive. In the Fortress town of Germersheim you can visit the Fortress and City Museum or the German Road Museum. The Koblenz State Museum in the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress attracts visitors with a changing exhibition programme. Almost all fortresses offer exciting exhibitions and museums.
